Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Glossop, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary as well. Please review the Rental Agreement for any additional criteria.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Glossop office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely handled by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, barring normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please contact us if you expect to be delayed. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details about coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. Please review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Uses
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar dangerous activities is prohibited. The transport of hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Glossop will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
